Marlin fishing was amazing this year off Costa Rica’s beautiful pacific coast! We added up around 200 releases of Blue Marlin about 20 Black Marlin and well over 1000 Sail fish to sum up our 6 month season December through May!
Blue Marlin like this are caught several ways by our team off the warm water of Quepos Costa Rica. We sometimes slow troll live baits like bonita, sardines, blue runners and sometimes look downs to entice these Blue Marlin to eat! The most traditional way down in Costa Rica is to pull ballyhoo that are dead and rigged with a chin weight. Another way have had lots of success with Marlin when we need to cover ground is pulling plastic lures! We travel long distances all day at around 10-11 knots covering ground trying to find a bite
This Blue Marlin is in the 200-250 pound range and was released unharmed !
